Nicholson, Ga. - Thursday morning at six o'clock, January 3, 1925, Mr E A Barnett, who resided just east of the city died following a two weeks' sickness with pnemonia-flu. His death came as a great shock to his hundreds of friends throughout this section of the country. He was near fifty years of age.
During young manhood, he was married to Miss Ada Jackson and to this union there were three children born. His wife died and he then married Miss Fannie Jackson. This union was blessed with ten children, all of whom are living but one, together with the other three.
He joined the Methodist church in early life and there never lived a better Christian anywhere. He was faithful to his church, but best of all, served his Master first.
His family will miss him worst of all, but his death has taken from the Christian circles of our community one of the best men spritually and financially. The county loses one of the most law abiding citizens that ever lived within its borders.
Besides his immediate family, he is survived by two brothers, J H and C M Barnett of Nicholson, four sisters, Emma Sailors of Carlton, Mrs Lucy Maxwell of Mars Hill, Mrs Lola Damron of Nicholson, Mrs Minnie Eberhardt, together with a host of other relatives and friends who are saddened by his demise.
The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Friday at noon with religious services by Rev J T Pierce of Canon. Interment was in the Nicholson cemetery.
Friends extend to the bereaved family heart felt sympathy in the death of their loved one. Banner-Hearld, Jan. 14, 1925~ page 8. Parents: David Woodson and Laura J. Martin Barnett.
