Mrs. Newby was born in Kansas City, KS, and lived there for 82 years, before moving to Lakeview Village in 1992. She had been the owner of Happy Shanty Gift & Frame Shop for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Lenexa United Methodist Church, and had been an 80 year member of Grandview United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, Howard D. Adams, who died in 1982. Survivors include her husband, John W. Newby, of the home; a son, Dan W. Adams, Sandwich, MA; a daughter, Phyllis A. Nason, Lake Quivira, KS; a brother, Don E.
