Alexandra Nikolaus, 19, of Columbia passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born on Good Friday, April 9, 1993 and continues her life in heaven, embraced by God's loving presence and surrounded by many family members and friends.

Alexandra will be lovingly missed by her parents Paul and Roseann (Robinson) Nikolaus, her grandfather Joseph Robinson, her grandmother Margaret (Nikolaus) Bransby and Richard Bransby, all of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her grandmums Rosemary Robinson and her grandfather Paul Nikolaus.

Alexandra attended Manheim Central Middle School and thoroughly enjoyed her time in Joni Hilbert-Hess' IU 13 classroom. A social butterfly, Alexandra loved to interact with her classmates, student volunteers and therapists. Her smile and laugh were infectious, and she won the hearts of everyone she met. Alexandra received physical therapy services through the Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center for 19 years under the care of Denisha Kline. Her playful spirit and willingness to work hard allowed her to make much progress. She especially enjoyed riding her therapy bike. Swimming was her most favorite summer activity.

Alexandra will also be dearly missed by all of her nurses at Bayada Pediatrics. Her nurses can be counted among her best friends as they shared in Alexandra's love of music, dance, movies and story-telling.

In addition to her parents and grandparents Alexandra is survived by her Uncle Tom and Aunt Eileen Nikolaus; Uncle John and Aunt Beth Nikolaus; Aunt Monica and Uncle Les Schoelkoph as well as cousins Tom, Julia, John, Faith, Nikolaus and Brady. Uncles, aunts and cousins extend into the Nikolaus, Sheehy, Robinson and Horn families.

Alexandra's parents would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the physicians who provided excellent care for her throughout her life: Jacqueline J. LeGrand, DO and the staff of Pediatric Care of York; Steven M. Gottlieb, MD of Nemours Childrens Clinic; Gavin Graff, MD and William Wenner, MD of The Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and numerous other doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists of the Children's Hospital; Vickie Poff, David Laughlin, DDS and Angela Lutz, DMD of Children's Dental Centre of York; and Jennifer Brighter, MD of Twin Rose Family Medicine, Columbia.

A viewing will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut Street, Columbia on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th and Cherry Streets, Columbia on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 10-10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th and Cherry Streets, Columbia with the Very Reverend Kenneth F. Lawrence as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Columbia.
