Paul L. Gramlich, 69, of Highland, Ill., born May 12, 1934, in Highland, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, Ill.
Mr. Gramlich graduated from St. Paul High School, Highland, Ill., in 1952. He served with the U.S. Air Force on duty in Korea with the 11th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. He was employed by McDonnell Douglas for 18 years in the calibration area, working with the space program. In 1976, he began setting up computer systems for several different people. He also operated Colony Liquor, Highland, Ill., for less than two years. He then worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue as an auditor from the early to the mid-1980s. In 1974, he received his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He owned, collected and restored Studebaker automobiles. He did a frame-up-restoration on a 1951 3/4-ton pickup truck and had driven it for the last 23 years. He also owned a 1964 GT Hawk, a 1939 Commander and a 1964 Commander. He enjoyed photography for more than 50 years and repaired televisions for people in the area. Mr. Gramlich was a member and past president of the Strudebaker Driver's Club-Prairie Cross Road Chapter of Effingham, Ill.; a member of Three Rivers Studebaker Club, Evansville, Ind.; the Masonic Lodge 583 AF&AM, Highland, Ill.; and the AARP, where he volunteered as an income tax preparer in Okawville, Ill.
Mr. Gramlich was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Cordellia, nee Rochelle, Gramlich; a brother, Jerome S. Gramlich; and two sisters, Pauline L. Yann and Carol A. Deibert.
Surviving are his wife, Elvie Mae, nee Kinnunen, Gramlich of Highland, Ill., whom he married March 23, 1957, in Hermantown, Minn.; a daughter, Julia A. (Douglas) Ruth of New Lenox, Ill., a son, Merl G. Gramlich of Highland, Ill.; a brother, Donald (Donna) Gramlich of Highland, Ill.; a sister, Doris Heaney of Grand Forks, N.D.; and three grandchildren, Maria B. Ruth of Edwardsville, Ill., Sam P. Ruth of New Lenox, Ill., and Anthony J. Ruth of New Lenox, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, Ill. A Masonic service by the Highland Lodge 583 will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home.
