Obituary:

Velma Orchard Goff, 94, passed away peacefully Friday, August 3, 2012. She was born July 19, 1918 in Lewiston, Utah to Albert Aland and Anna Maria Gustafson Orchard. She graduated from North Cache High School, in Richmond.

She married Milton Ransom Goff, of Preston, Idaho on August 8, 1938 in Pocatello, ID. Their vows were solemnized September 29, 1942, in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was an active dedicated member of the LDS Church. She served in many church callings. She was Young Women's President, three times. She was Relief Society President, she taught in the mentally and physically challenged Primary, was often the ward organist, was always a dedicated visiting teacher for Relief Society. Velma and her husband served together in the New York Rochester Mission 1986-1987. Then together they served as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for 10 years.

Velma was a fabulous cook, she loved to be surrounded by her family, she had many friends that she deeply cherished, she loved to plant beautiful flowers, do ceramics, sew, read the scriptures faithfully, read enough books to fill a library, loved music and loved to spend time at our family cabin, where so many treasured memories were made with her. But most of all she leaves us with a beautiful example of how to live life. She will be deeply missed.

Surviving are her children, Karen (Robert) Dunkley, M. Thayne (Marilyn) Goff, Ruth Jensen, Debra (Rex) Bingham, Stephen R. Goff, 27 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, five brothers, one sister, her daughter, Marilyn Wheelwright, and two grandsons, Michael Dunkley and Jeffrey Halverson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.

The family thanks all who will be honoring Velma today. Special thanks to the Legacy House of Ogden, where she spent several years with her husband. Special thanks to Washington Terrace Care Center for the special love and care given to her in the her last years. Sincere thanks to Inspiration Hospice, particularly Ann and Kristi.
