The following comes from a letter written by one of Lucy's grandchildren by the name of Maude (Baker) Grim:

"I have never heard what sort of family Geo. had but Grandma Lucy had one brother" (she actually had 5 brothers), "I know, I seen him, Sam Bryant by name. I treasure the memory knowing my grandparents. Grandpa Geo. was a heavy set man. Will's size. Very religious man. My dad Jim and Geo. run a flour mill at Spickard for years. Grandma Lucy was a tall woman somewhat afflicted in her neck & shoulder. Never went out in public much. Could not write. Very good cook. Terribly good hearted. I can always remember honey was always on the table, they always kept cows & chickens & lots of fruit. What I can remember us kids always went to grandpa Geo. to get our teeth pulled. I feel they were two of the finest people I have ever known & I so appreciate having known them."
