Sarae Tara Rinker, 18, of Cresco, passed away on Saturday evening, Nov. 19, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown after a hiking accident.
Born on March 2, 1987, in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Richard and Fay Rinker Opshinsky at home and had lived in the area all of her life. She was a freshman at Kutztown University and had worked part-time at Eats and Sweets in Scotrun.
A 2005 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School East, she was active in S.A.D.D., a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, and had graduated 16th in her class.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Emily Opshinsky, at home; grandparents, Charles and Mary Rinker of Scotrun and Richard and Ann Opshinsky of Clarks Summit; great grandmother, Eula Klinger of Bridgewater, N.J.; aunts, Tara Rinker and Leah Rinker, both of Scotrun; and Kim and Ray Kryeski of Clarks Summit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church with Father Alfred Vito as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Keokee Chapel Cemetery in Paradise Valley.
There will be a viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Pocono Mountain East High School
