Rev. Mr. Miessler was 74 years old and was one of Carlinville's most respected citizens. He was pastor of the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran church in Carlinville for 32 years and recently has been supplying in Virden.
He is survived by his wife and several children, all of whom were present at his death.
The funeral was held Monday. Private services at the house in the afternoon and public services at the Lutheran church.
