February 28, 1930 - August 5, 2012

Edith Floyd, 82, of Brunswick passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 6-8PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 1PM in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Elder Chris Folsom and Elder Marty Hoskins officiating. Entombment will follow at Brunswick Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Noah Williams, Luke Williams, Benjamin Floyd, Jeff Webster, Bill Nutgrass and Jay Hightower. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Hightower, the Georgia Power Ambassadors Retiree Club and the Women's Walkers Club of Glynn Place Mall.

Edith was born February 28, 1930 to the late Adam Joseph Brooks and Sina Brooks in Stapleton, Georgia. She attended Berry College and achieved a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She was teacher in Dublin City Schools from 1950-1957 then moved to Brunswick in 1967 where she started teaching at the Kiddie Kindergarten from 1967-1969. She began teaching in the Glynn County Schools in 1970. She was a member of the Zion Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Johnny Floyd; two daughters: Pam Nutgrass (Bill) of Brunswick and Vicki Hightower (Jay) of Sandy Springs, GA; two sons: Michael (Janie) Floyd of St. Simons and Gary Floyd (Lori) of Canton, GA; two sisters: Faye Black of Evans, GA and Helen Wren of Augusta, GA; one brother: Adam Joseph Brooks, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; 22 Grandchildren, one great grandson and one great granddaughter and several other friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525 (912-265-4735) or Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 2195 Old Jesup Road, Brunswick, GA 31525 (912-280-9144)
