CENTERTOWN — Donald Ray "Donnie" Brigance, 69, of Centertown passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born March 2, 1943, in Hammond, Ind., to the late Elgan and Maybell Durham Brigance. He was a member of Smallhouse Baptist Church in the Kronos community of Centertown and was a coal miner for Peabody Coal Co.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Sue James Brigance of Centertown; one son, James Calvin Smith III of Centertown; two daughters, Donita Brigance of Beaver Dam and Dana Michelle (Shelby) Mayfield of Kronos; two sisters, Diana (Johnny) Cooper of Hartford and Linda (Keith) Whitten of Hartford; six grandchildren, Donnie Brigance, John Brigance, Sarah Stout, Jasmine Nicole Reed, Rhiannon Dawn Hardy and Jay Smith; and one great-grandchild, Andrew James.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smallhouse Baptist Church in Kronos with Brother Rossie Stewart officiating. Burial is in Smallhouse Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at William L. Danks Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Messages of condolence may be made at www.danksfuneralhome.com.
