Clarissa was the eighth of eleven children born to Frederick Peckham and Nancy Denning. She married William Earl Eikleberry in Centerville, Iowa, on 11 Oct 1873 (his second wife). They had ten children. Widowed at 61, she married John L. Taylor four years later, in June 1918. Widowed again before 1930, she moved in with her daughter Edna's family and resided with them the rest of her life. She died age 89 after a fall that broke her hip.
