As a child she shared her life with 9 brothers and sisters. She later became a registered nurse at Hotel Deiu in Beaumont. Evelyn met Emmett Markby in 1946 and was married shortly after. She continued to nurse throughout her lifetime and was a devout member of the Hotel Dieu Nurses Association. Caring for those who needed her was her true gift. Love for church work was also most important to her. Being a servant of God for missions and peace through the United Methodist Women and Church Women United were where she gave herself to society. She gave her time to Sunday School teaching for 30 years and volunteered at Some other Place faithfully. Evelyn was a past member of McCabe Roberts Avenue Methodist Church and St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Evelyn Rose Markby's presence was a gift given by God. Her kindness and ability to unconditionally love was a blessing to those who were able to share this life with her. Evelyn will be remembered and missed by many and greeted in heaven by many more.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay Prevost and her husband Gerry, son, John Markby and his wife Kristin, grandchildren, Charles Prevost, Alisha Kay Prevost and Chad Markby and great-grandchildren Brennan William Markby, Ani Rose Prevost and Conrad Ray Adix.
