August Alfred Linder
August Alfred Linder, 83, died Thursday (sic) at the home of his daughter, Miss Ethel Linder of 523 Harrison, where he had lived three years.
Born February 13, 1870, in Rippeda, Sweden, he came to the United States when he was 12 and settled in Randolph. He was a locomotive fireman for the Rock Island railroad 40 years, retiring in 1941. He also worked for the Moesher Ice Plant and Wolfe Packing Co., prior to his employment with the railroad. He was a member of the Redden chapel.
Survivors include five daughters, Miss Linder, Mrs. Ruth Linder of Newton, Mrs. Mabel Schroeder of 410 Van Buren, Mrs. Mildred Temple of Fort Worth, and Miss Margaret Ann Linder of Bennington, Kan.; seven sons, Edmond of 1315 Jackson, Carl of 523 Harrison, Elmer of 406 Ohio, Clyde of the Fifth Avenue hotel, Robert of 523 Harrison, and Wilfred and Donald of Bennington; a step-daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Morvan of New Orleans, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Penwell-Gabel funeral home will announce arrangements.
