Betty E. (Bahrman) Ramsdell, 81, of Giants Neck Beach, Niantic, died Friday, (April 24, 2009) at Bride Brook Rehabilitation Center in Niantic after a long illness. Born July 25, 1927, in Superior, WI., she was daughter of the late Blaine and Eva Bahrman. Betty graduated from Superior High School and the University of Wisconsin and lived in New Britain and Avon before moving to Niantic in 1994. She worked at the US Treasury Dept in Chicago during World War II, where she met Robert Ramsdell, married and moved to Connecticut. Betty was a member of the former Trinity Methodist Church in New Britain and served as Superintendent of the church Sunday School. She was a member of the West Avon Congregational Church and the Christian Science Church in Boston. She also belonged to the DAR; the New Britain Bridge Club; New Britain Y Wives, where she was former President; and the Giants Neck Beach Club. Her husband, Robert passed away in 2007. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by a son, Robert E. Ramsdell and his wife, Mary of Newington; two daughters, Candace Pool and her husband, Franz of Avon; and Robin Ramsdell of Simsbury; two sisters, Marjorie Menapace and her husband, Herman of Xenia, OH., and Lois Nelson and her husband, Claire of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Lyndsey Pool, Justin Pool and Jeremiah Ramsdell; several nieces and nephews. Private graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23rd, 1 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Donations in her memory may be made to The Lighthouse Hospice Foundation, 529 Main Street, Suite 123, Charlestown, MA 02129-1122. The Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting the family with arrangements. Bettys' family wishes to thank the entire staff at Bride Brook Rehab Center, especially Terri and Prince, for their years of loving care.
