There was an article that was written by a woman named Claudie A. Chisholm which was published in the Louisa County Historical Society Magazine quite some time ago now which mainly had to do with the Ware family of Louisa County, VA. However, in this article Ms. Chisholm mentioned what now appears to be some incorrect information regarding Wyatt Almond. By that I mean she mentioned Wyatt Almond as follows: "He was the son of Thomas, Jr. and Mary Sansum Almond".

This is not correct according to a number of the descendants of Thomas Almond, Jr. and Mary Sansum. They adamantly refute this statement and provide proof of their stand by stating that Thomas Almond, Jr., and his wife Mary Sansum, had left Louisa County, VA., when Wyatt Almond would have been only a very young man. He would not have remained there if that was the case. He would have quite naturally left with them if they were, in fact, his parents. Instead they moved to Kentucky and he remained (for quite a while) in Louisa Co., VA., before finally also moving to Kentucky around 1815 to 1820.

The year of birth given here and his month and year of death are given on his 1850 Warren County, Kentucky, Mortality schedule which recorded his death as occurring in July of 1849, cause of death "dropsy". His age at death was listed as 72 years old and his place of birth was given as Virginia. It was also noted that he was married and that he was a Farmer. His name was recorded on the 1850 Mortality Schedule for Warren Co., KY., as "Wyatt Almon".

There was a biography of Wyatt's son, William Spencer Almond (Wyatt's eldest child as near as we can tell), which was published in the book "Portrait & Biographical Albun of Warren County, Illinois" in 1886. In this biography of William Spencer Almond it mentioned Wyatt Almond (his father) as follows:

"Wyatt Almond, his father, was a man of superior abilities and education and was a soldier in the service of the United States in the War of 1812. He followed the profession of teacher in Kentucky and was a resident of that State after his removal there until the time of his death. The name of the lady who became his wife was Susannah Ware previous to her marriage to him."
