...and that he was still a citizen of Norway,
...and that he worked at a Wagon Company in Stoughton,
...and that he lived in Stoughton with his wife, Sena.
The 1930 Census says that he lived in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.
Harold changed his last name from Fyke (pronounced Feek) to Venden upon coming to America and becoming a U.S. citizen, thus using his mother's maiden name.
Harold was the first of the three brothers to come to America from Norway in the Spring of 1898. (The year of the Spanish-American War.)
Harold died at home in Stoughton; cancer of the esophogus (smoker).
Obituary: Harold Venden, 66, died today at his home, 315 North Madison Street, Stoughton, after a long illness.
A native of Valdres, Norway, he came to Blanchardville in 1897 and moved to Stoughton in 1913. He was married to Sena Dovre at Blanchardville December 19, 1904. He farmed in the Stoughton area until last year, when he became an employee of the Highway Trailer Company.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Christianson of Cambridge and Mrs. Loy Gilson of Stoughton; four sons, Clarence of Stoughton, Olen, Hilmer and Morris of Madison; three brothers, Martin of Barneveld, Ole of Hollandale, and Hans of Norway; a sister, Bertha Venden of Norway; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Central Lutheran Church, the Rev. A.W. Stolen of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.
