Patricia A. Miller,
89 of Lima, Ohio died on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 2:50 P.M. at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio.

Born September 10, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa to Joseph V. Ryan and Lucille M. (Lowry) Ryan who both preceded her in death. On November 24, 1945 she married Patrick G. Miller, who also preceded her in death on March 2, 1980.

Mrs. Miller was a devoted mother of seven and a faithful member of St Rose Catholic Church, which she served in numerous capacities throughout her life. She was a member of the Bishop of Toledo's advisory council from 1981 to 1985. She was a generous volunteer of her time and talent, and was a finalist for the 1988 JC Penney Golden Rule award and, also, was the recipient of the first St. Rose service award in 2002.

Mrs. Miller taught as a substitute at Lima Central Catholic High School in its early years and then began teaching full-time at St. Rose in the 1960's and 70's.

She left teaching and moved on to the Lima Public Library where she became the head of the circulation department before her retirement in 1993. She was a noted presenter of book reviews at various civic, women's and church groups throughout the area. Mrs. Miller had a deep love of family, music, education, and was an avid bridge player. She was a proud graduate of Marquette University.

She is survived by her seven children: a son, Patrick G. Miller, Jr. (Richard Stadtmiller) of Fremont, CA; a son Michael T. (Caryn) Miller of Elida, OH; a daughter, Margaret (Tyler) Dunn of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter Jeanne (Robert) Miller of Davidson, NC; a daughter, JoEllen Miller of Elida, OH; a son Bernard J. (Catherine) Miller of Denver, CO, a son James L. (Jenny) Miller of Chicago, IL; twelve grandchildren, Jessica Garlock, Rebecca (Kevin) Shiedler, Gayle Garlock, Sarah (Jason) Hanna, Patrick Miller, Tricia (Aaron) Heeter, Alison Miller, Rayan (Erinn) Miller, Meg Miller, Eric Miller, Michael Miller and Catie Miller and, nine great grandchildren, Peyton, Adi, Ellie, Michael, Kinley, Cooper, Emma, Clair, and Ava.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Fahrendorf, and four brothers, Dr. Joseph Ryan, Twins Fr. Tom and Fr. Gerry Ryan, and Fr. John Ryan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lima Convalescent Home for the loving care and respect shown to Mrs. Miller during her stay there.

Visitation will be Monday, August 6, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with a Parish Wake at 8:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 7, 2012 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. David Ross presiding.

Burial will be at Gethsemani Cemetery.
