Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Horne McCaskill, age 79, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with her brother-in-law, Rev. Adron Horne and Rev. Adrian Knipper officiating. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery in Medina, TN.
Mrs. McCaskill died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born in Medina, TN to the late Sam Broadway and Mary Kirk Broadway. She was raised by the late Spencer and Bertha Hinson, and was a graduate of Medina High School, where she was Salutatorian of her Senior Class. Mrs. McCaskill graduated with a nursing degree from the University of Tennessee School of Nursing in Memphis, where she was President of her nursing class.
She was a registered nurse for Dr. Dodson until his retirement, and later worked at the Woman's Clinic until retiring in 1997. She was Baptist in belief.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Walton Horne and Joe McCaskill; a daughter, Mona Doyle and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her son, Ronald Horne and wife Sandy of Henderson; her daughter, Susan Wimberley and husband Terry of Jackson; her sister, Pauline Eubank and husband Buron of Peoria, IL; her step-children, Belinda, Brian and Teresa, and their families of Chicago, IL; 4 grandchildren, Shane Wimberley (Jamie) of Jackson, Crissy Parker (Brad) of Medina, Walt Wimberley (Leah) of Jackson and Tiffany Knipper (Jonathan) of Henderson, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McCaskill was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a compassionate caring person who was loved by many.
