James D. Venden, age 52, of Mount Horeb died on Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at his resedence in Mt. Horeb, after a courageous battle with cancer for 8 1/2 years. He was born October 12, 1943, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Helmer and Stella (Swiggum) Venden. He was married to the former Shirley Gammeter Zwiefelhofer on February 24, 1967. He was a graduate of Mount Horeb High School and attended UW Platteville for several years. He also was a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local #0565 and the Mt. Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an employee for 25 years of Sub Zero Corp. of Madison, Wisconsin. Jim loved to play fast pitch softball ans was also an avid golfer and bowler. he is survived by his wife, Shirley of Mount Horeb, a daughter, Kari Anderson of Blue Mounds; a son, David Venden of Mount Horeb; his mother, Stella Venden of Mount Horeb; a brother, Harlan Venden of Cross Plains; and a granddaughter, Meggan Anderson of Blue Mounds. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
