Mr. William Louis Strickland, Jr., 83, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.

Mr. Strickland was born July 18, 1927, in Nichols, GA to the late William Louis Strickland, Sr. and Mattie Lenora Anderson Strickland. He was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church, where he played lead guitar for many years. Mr. Strickland played lead guitar for the Joyful Sound Quartet before there retirement, he was a front end specialist for George Dempsey Ford for 30 years and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II. He was preceded in death by four children: John Strickland, Sam Strickland, Sebbie Strickland and William Strickland; and two brothers: Orby Ray Strickland and Willie J. Strickland.

Survivors are his wife: Lula “Lu” Crews Strickland, Homerville; two sisters: Erma Rea Cox and Mary Lee Tatum, both of Homerville; one brother and sister-in-law: Samuel B. & Bessie Strickland, Homerville, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Services for Mr. Strickland will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at two o’clock from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Interment will be in the Telmore Cemetery, in Telmore, GA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 from 7 til 9 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Strickland will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.

Roundtree Funeral Home is serving the Strickland Family.
