Frank X. Zwiefelhofer, 88, of Bloomer, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Lakeside Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls.
He was born Sept. 13, 1912, in the town of Howard, the son of Albert and Mary (Traxler) Zwiefelhofer. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 and fought in Germany in the 10th Tank Division.
Frank married Ellen Ammentorp on Oct. 25, 1945, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls. He farmed on the home farm his entire life and also worked at Cranes (Ed's) Feed Mill.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Bloomer; son, James R. (Marion) Zwiefelhofer of Bloomer; daughters, Diane Satter of Bloomer, Linda (Ted) Derks of Chippewa Falls, Barbara (Rudy) Edwards of Bloomer and Kathy (Fred) Langman of Chetek; sister, Leona (Marvin) Poirier; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rose Sarauer, Theresa Revoir, Mary Schuster and Anne Pecha; brothers, Henry, Joe, John, Herbert, Bernard, Louis and Robert Zwiefelhofer; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Bloomer American Legion and V.F.W.
