M. FAIRCHILD DIES; RITES ARE HELD ------- Final rites for Marquist T. Fairchild, who died Wednesday, January 27, 1971 at 11:00 p.m. at his farm home in Fortier Township, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 1 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Rev. Reynold Tange officiating. The congregation sang "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". Mrs. Delores Peterson was the organist. Interment was in the Canby Cemetary. Pallbearers were Clarence Benck, Kenneth Benz, Ernest Wallert, David Cole, Roy Halstenson, and Mandrup Hanson. Marquist T. Fairchild was born June 10, 1902, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fairchild in Yellow Medicine County. He lived near Ada, Minn., for a time before moving to Nebraska where he lived for several years. He lived most of his lifetime in the Canby area. Mr. Fairchild attended Christie School north of Canby. He married Annie Christiansen on November 6, 1927 in Wisconsin. His occupation was farming. He is survived by his wife, sons: Iven and Lester, Gary, South Dakota; Daniel, Theodore, Henry, and Edwin of Canby; daughters: Pearl, Mrs. Merlin Mattson, Ettrick, Wisconsin; Nina, Mrs. Braulio Alfaro of Mexico; and June, Mrs. Benito Pacleb of the Philippine Islands; brother, George Fairchild, Appleton, Minn; sisters, Ethel, Mrs. Everett Thornburn, Ontario, Canada; Mrs. Caroline Manchester of San Diego, California; and 24 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyn; two brothers and one infant brother. "Canby News, January 1971"
