Ella Kaualoku Correa, 85, of Honolulu, a retired entertainer and kupuna, died. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by sons Harlan and David; daughters Loverna West, T. Nalani Meyers and Pamela Sato; brothers John, Daniel and Abraham Kaheaku; sisters Primrose Punua, Miriam Tortollero and Evelyn Kaahanui; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 11 a.m. Saturday at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel Services: 1 PM Burial: 3 PM at Hwaiian Memorial Park casual or aloha attire.
In the early to mid 40's she was a reporter/entertainer with the Pearl Harboe Bulletin, the official Navy Yard Magazine where she interviewed & entertained such dignitaries as Eleanor Roosevelt (President Roosevelts wife) who was visiting the islands prior to her visit to New York to help formalize the United Nations.
Her musical career spanned over 57 years singing and dancing hula.
For 20 years she worked for Northwest & Aloha Airlines as a ground hostess & promotional & Sales representative, sharing her musical talents & spreading the aloha spirit through the world promoting Hawai and the airline industry. She was very instrumental in the fruition of tourism as it is known today in Hawaii.
