Pensioners were required to appear before a government agent to collect their pension. In cases where the distance was too great, an agent was engaged to appear in their stead. Ezra Chapin, Judge of Steuben Court of Common Pleas, certified Moses was living in Prattsburgh.
Final voucher for his pension listed his date of death as Nov. 10, 1843 in the State of New York.

The cemetery is on the line between Yates County and Steuben County and nearby is his last known residence, Prattsburgh. There's also a marked stone for Moses E. Bardeen, a grandson, who died Feb. 17, 1843 at age 8 yr, 2 mo, 8 da.
NOTE: In "The Barden-Bardeen Genealogy" Cornelia Rosanna (Campbell) Bardeen, wife of grandson, Americus V. Bardeen, reported Moses died about 1837 at the home of his daughter, Olive Bardeen Brooks, who lived in Sherburne, Chenango Co., NY.
