Jeanerette – Funeral Services will be conducted for John Eric Bacon, Age 83, at 2:30PM Sunday May 15, 2011 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday May 15, 2011 from 9:00AM until service time with a Rosary being prayed at 11:00AM.
A native of Bunkie and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Bacon died Thursday May 12, 2011 at 2:36PM in a local health care facility.
He was an insurance agent retiring after 25 years with Union National Insurance. Mr. John was a member of the American Legion and he was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was also an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Dow Bacon of Jeanerette; children, Ed Bacon and wife Marlene of Osyka, Mississippi, John Bacon Jr. and wife Patricia of New Iberia, Ron Bacon and wife Leslie of Jeanerette, Adele Masters of Denham Springs, Jolyn Bacon of Hammond, Joanne Loewen and husband Chris of Bayou Louse, Tessie Landry and husband Todd and Beth Faucheaux and husband Brian all of Jeanerette; a sister, Jacqueline Fay Stelly and husband E.J. of League City, Texas and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Emma Halbert Bacon; a daughter, Carol Ann Bacon; two brothers, Edgar Bacon Jr. and Warren Bacon and two sisters, Lucille Lastrapes and Marie McCann.
Pallbearers will be Ron Bacon, Brian Faucheaux, John Bacon Jr., Ed Bacon, Kerry "Ziggy" Zimmerman and Chris Loewen.
