Mrs. Jane Cecelia Stone Shay, widow of B. B. Shay died at 11:15 Sunday at the home of her son, Archie Shay, Balmat, where she had lived two years. Mrs. Shay would have been 83 years old Tuesday. Death followed a stroke on July 15, since which time she had been unable to speak.
Mrs. Shay was born in Waddington, Aug 28, 1851, of Alexander and Sophia Wheeler Stone. As a young woman she moved to Lansing Mich where she was married about 1874 to B. B. Shay, contractor who died in El Paso, Texas where Mrs. Shay had lived since her marriage. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Shay returned to Waddington.
Survivors include one son, Archie, Balmat; a daughter, Mrs. G. W. Maybee, El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Muldoon, Gouverneur; Mrs Minnie Crump, Madrid; Mrs. Samuel Newvine, Waddington, a brother, Alexander Stone, Waddington and four grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at the home of Archie Shay, Balmat, this afternoon at one o'clock with services at 2 o'clock from a Waddington church. Burial will be in Waddington Cemetery.
