Dillard Junior Blankenship, 68, son of Dillard Blankenship and Edith Ice Blankenship, was born Dec. 25, 1925, at Solo. He died Feb. 5, 1993, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. He attended rural schools in the Solo area and moved with his parents to the Ozark community in the early '30s. A 1943 graduate of Houston High School, he joined the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation and was discharged in 1946, when he returned to the Ozark community. He married Wilda Montgomery March 23, 1947, at Summersville. They lived in the Ozark community and he worked for Ross Lumber Co. for several years. He retired in January 1986 after more than 20 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), where he served as vice president, president and recruitment chairman. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Wilda of the home; his mother, Edith Blankenship of Houston; and one sister, Doris Blankenship of Jefferson City. Graveside services were Feb. 6 at Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston
