Helmer S. Venden, age 64, Mount Horeb, died at his home on Wednesday, August 30, after a long illness.
Born in Blanchardville, Wisconsin, on September 28, 1913, he was a son of the late Harold and Sena (Dovre) Venden.
On December 4, 1942, he was married to the former Stella Swiggum at the Bethel Luthernan Church in Madison by the Reverend Morris Wee. They lived in Madison for several years, and Stoughton for four years before moving to Mount Horeb in 1957. Mr. Venden was employed by the Mount Horeb Post Office the past 19 years.
Mr. Vended was a member of the Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran church, and a member of the Sons of Norway Venelag No. 513.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, James D. (Shirley) Venden, Mount Horeb; and Harlan L. Venden, Oshkosh; a brother, Clarence, Madison; two sisters, Selma(Harold) Christianson, Madison, and Viola (Harold) Eldred, Stoughton; and two grandchildren, Kari and David Venden, of Mount Horeb.
He was preceded in death death by two brothers, Olen and Morris.
