ALBION - Alvin John Shanle, 76, of Albion, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at his home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion with the Rev. Frank Baumert officiating. Burial is at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Lindsay.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church, with an 8 p.m. wake service. There will also be visitation Tuesday at the church from 8-10:30 a.m.

Levander Funeral Home in Albion is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Shanle was born April 22, 1928, on a farm near Lindsay to Rudolph and Elizabeth (Wiese) Shanle. He attended school at Platte County School Districts 51 and 64.

On Aug. 2, 1955, he married Dorothy Eisenmenger in Humphrey. They lived and farmed 8 miles north of Lindsay and in 1988 moved to Albion.

He was a member of the church and of the Knights of Columbus, attaining 3rd Degree Knight.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Dan (Betty), Terry (Suzette) and Larry (Lisa), all of Genoa, and Tim (Amy) of St. Edward; five daughters, Joan (Harry) Wemhoff of Humphrey, Sue (Larry) Mausbach of Lincoln, Mary (Mike) Gregoryk of Camarillo, Calif., Janice (Dan) Andersen of Eau Claire, Wis., Cheryl (Jeff) Staashelm of Omaha; 28 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; three sisters, Loraine
Snyder of Genoa, Berdelle Ludden of Lindsay and Betty (Ken) Bender of Columbus; and two brothers, Francis of Columbus and Raymond (Sheila) of Crescent City, Calif.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Leland; and one sister, Rita Formanek.
