John Gibson Poulton was a Union Soldier during the Civil War. He joined the 145th Indiana Volunteers Army; he was enlisted in Company K, Indiana 145th Infantry Regiment on February 7, 1865. John fought in the Battles of Chattanooga, TN and Lookout Mountain.

John Gibson Poulton was the youngest child and only son of Thomas and Eleanor Silcott Poulton. John had 7 older sisters.

He was married to Rowena Eleanor Adkins on March 20, 1856 in Stillwater, Ohio. They were the parents of 10 children - 7 sons and 3 daughters. John Gibson Poulton was born on November 2, 1831 and is David W. Werblo's maternal great great grandfather. John Gibson is 111 years and 1 day older than his great great grandson, David.

David has several original letters from John Gibson to his sister Martha and a few other sisters during that time in history.
