Anna Mae Solace, 99, of McConnell, formerly of Freeport, homemaker, died Sunday afternoon, June 9, 1996, at Monroe (Wis.) Manor Nursing Center. Daughter of Henry and Clara Musser Shellenberger, she was born April 2, 1897, at Oakland Mills, Pa. She and Walter Adams were married Jan. 29, 1919, in Mifflintown, Pa. He died Jan. 29, 1936. On June 12, 1949, she and John Solace were married in Freeport. He died in November 1982. A lifetime member of Mennonite churches, she held a membership in Freeport Mennonite Church since 1927. She was an avid quilter, loved to do embroidery and took pride in raising a garden. Surviving her are two daughters, Naomi (Ronald) Krueger of Freeport and Florence (Laverne) Meinert of Hobart, Ind.; one son, John (Mary) Adams of Freeport; two stepdaughters, Opal (Bob) Altenbern of Lena and Uva Mayes of Orangeville; one stepson, Ralph (Annetta) Solace of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Esther Gebhard of Elizabethtown, Pa. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Flo Stamm and Ruth Schroeder, one grandson, one great-grandson; one sister and two brothers. Burial will be in the Freeport Mennonite Cemetery with services by Rev. Dennis Stutzman officiating.
