Donald V. Broadfoot was born October 13, 1925 at Timber, Missouri, the second son of Lewis and Stella Williams Broadfoot. He passed away January 20, 1986 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 60 years.

As a small boy, Donald began his education at the Sutton's Creek School and finished at the Eminence High School where he received a G.E.D. after his service with the Armed Forces ended in 1946. He served with the 86th Mountain Infantry Division in the Po Valley in Itlay, where he specialized as a heavy mortar crewman and sharpshooter.

On January 14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Jewell Smith at Mtn. Home, Arkansas and shortly after moved to the Delaware community to make their home with their two daughters, Carole Broadfoot Holland and Cheryl Means Randolph.

Donald leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Jewell, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Larry Holland, and Cheryl and Walter Randolph; his mother, Stella Broadfoot; three grandchildren, Kristin, Richard, and Stephen, whom he loved dearly; two nephews, Lou and James Broadfoot; a niece, Doris Ann Warren; other great nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Donald was self-employed as a farmer, having spent his entire life in a job that he thoroughly enjoyed.

He rededicated his life to the Lord and was baptized into the family of Christ at the West Eminence Christian Church several years ago. Donald enjoyed tilling the soil and watching things grow. Man-made monuments held no allure, but he loved to look on the wonders of God's creation, the beautiful hills, valleys and streams and the everchanging seasons of the Ozarks. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed pitting his skills against the wild animals that abound in our area. Life certainly won't be the same without Donald as he touched the lives of many people, as he loved to exchange thoughts and ideas with others and enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by a group of friends and relatives.

Although Donald won't walk these hills again and work with the land he loved so well, the evidence is here of the many hours he spent improving the farm he loved and as we see the wind riffling the crops on the land he tended so carefully, who knows but what God in His infinite wisdom and love is allowing Donald to pass lightly over it once again.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Eminence with Bro. Rodney Brown and Herald DeWeese officiating. Burial was in the New Eminence Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
