Elizabeth Aycock Blackman, 95, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
Funeral will be Saturday, April 21, 2012, 11:00 a.m. in Fremont United Methodist Church, followed by a time of visiting. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackman, known to many as "Libba", was the widow of John W. Blackman, Jr., who died in 1991. A native of Wayne County, her parents were Jesse B. and Janie Ferrell Aycock. She was a graduate of Woman's College (UNC-Greensboro) and received her Masters Degree in Science Education from East Carolina University. She taught more than 20 years at Fremont High School and then at Charles B. Aycock High School.
Surviving are sons, J. Walton Blackman, III, DDS of Winston-Salem, Jesse A. Blackman, MD, (Norma) of Fremont and T. Gibson Blackman, OD, (Barbara) of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Amanda Blackman Phillips (Michael), Alex Blackman (Julie); Jesse "Jay" Blackman, Jr. (Emily) and Elizabeth "Egie" Blackman, Scott Blackman (Jennifer) and Shay Sepko (Bart), Natalie Schafer, Barrett Schafer and Lindsay Schafer; great-grandchildren, Georgia and Jake Phillips, Rosemary and Savannah Blackman, Talley and Elin Blackman, Connor, Griffin and Brennan Blackman, Jackson and West Sepko; and special friends, Shiletha Smith and Felicia Reid.
