Edward Will Ahlrich

Edward Will Ahlrich, a pioneer of Lake Jackson, TX, passed away quietly at the home of his daughter on August 13, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born on July 23, 1917 in Burton, Texas to Edward and Louise Ahlrich. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Edith Ahlrich, and daughter, Virginia Ann Ahlrich. Ed is survived by his son, Ed "Bubba" Ahlrich and wife Bitsy of Lake Jackson; Carolyn Woodiel of Lake Jackson; Jean Ahlrich of Houston; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ed graduated from Rice University in 1942 and immediately went to work for Dow Chemical as a mechanical engineer working in the Magnesium Project, which began a 40-year career. He retired in May, 1982. He was involved in Jaycees, Little League, Girl Scouts, the Lake Jackson Historical Association, the Round Top Historical Society, and volunteered at the Sea Center.
