Around 1906 she married Joseph Burns McPherson, a physician, who was born 14 May 1878 in Clarks, Nebraska, son of Adam E. McPherson (who had immigrated from Glasgow, Scotland). He had gray blue eyes and dark hair, and was of medium height.
They rented a home in Omaha Nebraska at 702 S. 24th Street, where their children, Josephine and Vera were born. They then moved to Hastings, Adams Co., Nebraska where Dorothy, Helen, and Joseph Jr were born and purchased 138 University Avenue in Hastings.

After applying for a family passport (with photo) in early September, the family traveled together to Europe in the fall of 1922, to Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium & Holland to study, and returned aboard the SS President Van Buren from London 23 April 1923, arriving in New York 17 May 1923.
In 1928, Vera and Joseph traveled without the children, returning on the SS George Washington, leaving Southampton England on 19 Jan 1928, arriving in New York on Jan 29, 1928.
Sometime between the 1920 and 1930 US Census, they moved to 734 N Pine Ave in Hastings and lived there at least until 1941.
They moved to Alhambra California sometime between 1941 & 1954 as they appear in the city directory in 1954.
