OBITUARY
JOHN JOSEPH FREED
John Joseph Freed, son of Oscar David Freed and Hannah Caroline Granstedt Freed, was born on January 13, 1922 on the Granstedt Home stead near Scandia, Republic County, Kansas and passed away on Saturday, March 31, 1990, at Anaheim, California.
His early years were spent on the farm where nature and the great outdoors were his great love. On September 26, 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army Air Force, 36th Mobile Repair and Reclamation Squadron where he served with the rank of Sergeant in the Air Offensive - Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He served his country honorably and faithfully, receiving his Honorable Discharge on October 10, 1945.
On June 20, 1943, he married Agnes Florene Swihart at the Portland Air Base Chapel, Portland, Oregon.
To this union four children were born:
Peggy Susan Ormasen,
John David Freed,
Billie Dean Freed and
Bruce Gordon Freed.
Immediate family members who survive him are his wife Agnes, and children Peggy Ormasen, David Freed, Bill Freed and Bruce Freed; his grandchildren Susan Ormasen Bennett, Marc Ormasen, Kristin, Amanda, Michael and Ashley Freed; Dean, Brent, Leslie, Brooke and Stacie Freed; Reagan, Ryan, Braden and Jason Freed, many nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted in Hope Chapel and interment was in the Garden of Protection, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, California with the service being conducted by Father Kelly on Tuesday, April 3, 1990.
