Arthur Leslie King passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years. Arthur was the son of Lester O'Neil King & Lucille (Bryson) King, born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on April 19, 1935. He was brought up and attended Holdenville schools, graduating Holdenville High School in 1953. He worked various jobs as a young man, then went to work for the Safeway grocery store in Holdenville, and began his lifelong career. He moved to Okmulgee in 1958 and was employed in the Safeway store there in various positions, working his way up to Manager. After Safeway became Homeland stores, Arthur was employed at the Henryetta Homeland until his retirement in the late 1990s. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Okmulgee. His interests were many and varied, and his favorite pastimes included watching TV, diamond mining, and polishing rocks. He enjoyed searching for assorted memorabilia, and collecting coins and stamps, and anything pertaining to those collections. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester King and Lucille King Deel; two wives, Agatha and Ramell; one son, Michael King. He is survived by three children: David Arthur King of Oak Point, Texas, Deborah King Esquivel and husband Hector, of Dallas, Texas, and Arthur Leslie King II and wife Tina, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; three grandchildren: Elise Esquivel, Caleb Esquivel, Lee Esquivel, and one grandchild soon to arrive; two brothers, Wilson Deel of Wagoner, Oklahoma and James Deel of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and one sister, Julia Sims of Okmulgee; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Holdenville Cemetery.
