AIKEN – Mrs. Nelva Ward Bowen, 90, died July 30, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2012 in Southlawn Cemetery with the Reverend Martha Vinson officiating.
Mrs. Bowen was born in Collison, SC, a daughter of the late Bailey and Rebecca Metts Ward. She moved to Aiken in 1953, and worked in sales for Holmes Jewelers for 35 years and Floyd and Green Jewelers for 15 years. She was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Robert E. (Betty J.) Bowen, Aiken, Mr. Donald Eugene Bowen, Clinton, SC; three grandchildren, John Michael (Paris) Bowen, Dr. Lisa A. (John) Grassam, Dr. Robert H. (Kim) Bowen; seven great grandchildren, Donald and Matthew Bowen, Ian and Alexis Grassam, Katlyn, Josh, and Jacob Bowen; niece, Becky Laughinghouse.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Earl Bowen; two sisters, Evelyn W. Butler, Cecile W. Hinnant; brother, Ralph H. Ward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton St., SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
