We regret to record the death of Mr. Robert Gilliland, which occurred at his residence, Lot 22, 12th Con., Brooke (Twp) on Wednesday last. Deceased was a native of Ireland, having been born in that country in the year 1804, and was consequently in his 72nd year. He came to Canada about the year 1835, settling on the farm on which he lived until his demise. The deceased gentleman was a consistent and much respected member of the Watford Presbyterian Church ever since its organization, and was for many years an elder. He always took an active interest in the welfare of young people, and had the honor of being the first to organize a Sunday School in this vicinity, it being held in his house for a length of time. He leaves a widow, a son and daughter, and a large circle of friends to regret his departure.
