He enlisted in Florida Co. C, 5th Florida Infantry in Tallahassee, Florida on March 2, 1862. He was captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and was imprisoned at Ft. Delaware until June, 1865, when he was released because of the close of the war.

He received a Confederate pension from the State of Florida under Certificate No 7381.
