Constance Lenore "Toots" Brumfield, 89, was born December 2, 1922 in Albia, Iowa, daughter of William G. "Jackie" Lewis and Elzada (Johnson) Lewis.
Because of her declining health, Ms Brumfield was a resident at the Ravenwood Nursing Home and Care Facility where she departed this life peacefully on July 25, 2012.
Ms Brumfield was the consummate homemaker and she cared faithfully for both of her parents until their deaths.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Ravenwood and all those that cared for her during her stay at the facility.
At Ms Brumfield's adamant request there will be private viewing for family only at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, 300 West Ridgeway Ave. on Monday, July 30. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with the Reverend Steve Perkins presiding.
Ms Brumfield loved the Lord and leaves to mourn in loving memory two daughters, Mrs. Vicki (Baskerville) Brown and husband Dr. Floyd of Souix City, Iowa and Ms Angelic (Brumfield) Frost of Waterloo, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 37 great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Ms Brumfield was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Dedrick Lewis; and a son, Steven Lee Walton.
Interment will be in Garden Of Memories Cemetery.
