In looking at the transcription of Quaker Valley Cemetery by Reuben Cooper, he gives the date of death for 'Julia Ann, wife of Stephen Lawrence' in the Quaker style on the stone - 9th da of 10th mo 1899. That would make the date of death Oct. 9, 1899.

Using the date calculator I have on my Legacy Family Tree Software, Julia's age of 65 yrs, 7 mo, 17ds calculates her date of birth as Feb. 22, 1894 - the same date as in the Quaker Minutes.

I found a "Cox Family Outline' compiled by Elizabeth Berry Buffa in 1977. The document was digitized by FHL and put online by Internet Archive. On page 2, Julia Ann's date of death is listed as Oct. 9, 1899 and accompanied by the word Galena in parenthesis.

In later years the Quaker style and disintegrating stones made it even more difficult to understand the older stones in Quaker Valley cemetery done this way.

The tombstone in the photo Big John has posted seems to show the surname as:

LARRANCE, or possibly even LARRANGE

Under DECEASED, it looked like a S, but could also be a 9. There's a big O which could be for Oct. or a 0 which could be for 10.

The persons calculating the years months & days was often off, as is the tombstone.

It's possible the date is:

Corrected date from Joan: 22 February 1834 ~
Misunderstood date from marker: 10 September 1899

It sounded good to me. But wasn't because of the Quaker style and disintegrating stone. Joan's research on this one may help on many of the others in the same style and condition.

I've found one 1880 census so far after Julia married into the family as LARRANCE.

Julia Ann Cox's parents were William and Miriam (Winslow) Cox and grandparents John W. and Lydia (Littler) Cox. She married Stephen Lawrence on Feb. 21, 1855 in Grant County, Indiana. Julia's sister Anna Marie Cox [FAG # 100740470] married Stephen's brother, Thomas Hinshaw Lawrence.

Her date of birth is listed in the Minutes of Back Creek Monthly Meeting of Indiana - Grant County - where the family later moved. Aged 65 yrs, 7 mo, 17 ds when Julia Ann Lawrence died calculates the date of death to be Oct. 9, 1899. The disintegrating stone looks like the death date begins with the 9.
