Irene Cora Steinke was born on March 4, 1911, in Leopolis, to Emil and Emma (Kristoff). There he grew up on the family farm with his siblings: Alice Grove, Evelyn Wolf, Allen, Loretta Stezenski, Mae Jeske, and Melvin; half siblings: George, Lena Kazda Reminger and Anna Sazama. She married Preston Arity and they had one son, John. Irene died on February 14, 1992, at the age of 80, and was buried in Tomah, Wisconsin.
