Billy Taff Simmons, 18, of Arkansas City, died Monday, November 17, 2003 at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2003 at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mark Fry officiating. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery.

Friends may sign the book at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003. There will be no viewing.

Born June 11, 1985 at Arkansas City, Billy was the son of Billy A. Simmons and Sheryl D. Potter. Billy grew up and attended schools in Arkansas City. At the time of his death, Billy was living in Camdenton, Missouri.
Billy loved his family and always put others before himself. He was a leader and tender-hearted.

Billy is survived by his companion, Kari Jo McDonald of Camdenton, MO; his father, Billy Simmons and his wife, Marla of Arkansas City; his mother, Sheryl Potter of Arkansas City; three brothers, Adrian Mundy of Camdenton, MO., Chris Mundy of Jefferson City, MO., Larry Coursey of Arkansas City; three sisters, Ashley Simmons and Amanda Godfrey, Both of Arkansas City, and Heather Mundy of Jefferson City, MO.; paternal grandparents, Doris Simmons of Arkansas City and Curtis and Mona Simmons of Temple, GA; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Alberta Babb of Arkansas City and Johnny Potter of WaTonga, OK.; several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Reece; uncle, Emmett Simmons; and four cousins, Rachel Watson, Bobby Gene Simmons, Bobby Curtis Simmons, and Timmy Simmons.

A memorial has been established with the Arkansas City D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. programs. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
