Ithel Earl Ernst was born in Strang, neb., March 6, 1909. He passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lloyd Durham, in Omaha, Sunday, April 8, 1934, at 2:15 p.m., after a short illness of a diseased throat which caused other complications. March 10th Ithel went to Omaha for medical and hospital care. He only stayed at the hospital one week, when he went to the home of his sister, where he remained until the time of his passing to the Great Beyond. He was a patient sufferer. All was done for him that watchful care and loving hands could do.

Ithel spent his entire life in Fillmore county, mostly in and near Strang. He was very fond of music, having been a member of a quartet, singing first tenor. He was also a splendid violinist.

Ithel was thirteen when his father passed away. He then made his home with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers and one sister. He leaves to mourn, his mother, Mrs. Anthony Ernst, one sister, Mrs. Lloyd Durham of Omaha, his grandmother, Mrs. Aline Ernst of Strang; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Meryl Ernst; four nieces, Doris, Norma and Veda Durham, and Joyce Ernst; two nephews, Donald Durham and Arlie Meryl Ernst; besides other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11, in the Strang United Brethren Church at 2:30 p.m. Rev. A. B. Small conducted the services. Burial was in the Harmony Cemetery.
