Mr. Lohman, Claybanks, Dies at 81
MONTAGUE - Paul W. Lohman, 81, well-known Claybanks farmer, died Saturday at his home on Lohman Road. He had been active in farming until 10 days ago. Death was due to a heart condition.
Mr. Lohman was born June 29, 1880 in Claybanks, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August L. Lohman. He was a lifetime resident of the township. He attended Girdle Road School.
Mr. Lohman was married in Claybanks Nov. 18, 1909, to Alice Longnecker. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago.
He formerly served many years on the township board of review and the Girdle School board of education. He was a charter member of the former school PTA. He attended Rothbury Community Church.
Mr. Lohman is survived by his widow; seven daughters, Mrs. George Morris, Whitehall, Mrs. Paul Hepworth, White River, Mrs. Joseph Parker, Montague, Mrs. Ray Decker, Kalamazoo, Mrs. LeRoy Mudge, Muskegon, Mrs. Leslie Munson, Claybanks, Mrs. Emory Buttleman, Claybanks, a son, Frank, of Claybanks; a brother, Victor of Rothbury; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Gee Chapel, Whitehall, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Montague. Officiating will be the Rev. Ray Roelfs, former pastor of Rothbury Community Church, and the Rev. Davis Renshaw, pastor of Claybanks Methodist Church.
