---Nancy was a very remarkable woman. She carried her one year old son, Oliver Perry Davis, in her lap on a horse from Wayne County, Kentucky, to Howard county, Missouri, thinking she would have to bury him at ever stop they made since he was sick when they started and he stayed ill for the entire trip. She raised all sixteen of her children to adulthood without the need to call a doctor to see them. She was a woman of fine, practical sense, and fine resolution. She was a devoted member of the Baptist Church for many years, and later in life she became a member of the Christian Church.
