Ashby, 102, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Fort Collins, Good Samaritan Village.Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Road Chapel. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m.Leota was born June 20, 1903 in Partridge, KS to Watston Miller and Alice Elizabeth (O'Hara) Hemphill. She married William Ashby on February 14, 1926 in Fort Collins, and he passed away on August 22, 1977.She was a former resident of Montrose, CO and had resided in Fort Collins since 1918. She graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1922 and attended Colorado A & M. She was a homemaker.Leota was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women's Circle, Fort Collins Music Club, and Columbian Woman's Club. She enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, writing and music.Surviving Leota are her sons, Marvin Ashby of Livermore, CO and John Ashby and wife, Margaret, of Cedar City, UT; daughters, Eileen Farmer of Cheyenne, WY, Dorothy Laidlaw and husband, Charles, of Fort Collins, CO, and Carol Smith and husband, Warren, of Arlington, VA; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.Her parents; husband; son, Herbert Ashby; three brothers; and one sister preceded her in death.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fort Collins Good Samaritan Village in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W.
