Obituary
MRS. HATTIE SOFIA ADAMS
Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Sofia Adams were held at the Carlson-Carson Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. followed by services at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Boxholm, at 2 p.m. with the pastor, Kenneth Peterson officiating. Miss Linda Olson, organist and Mrs. Laverne Renberg, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "I Heart the Voice of Jesus Say."
Pallbearers were Herman Shultz, Gilbert Shultz, Norman Lass, Melvin Lass, Glenn Erickson and Elmer Erickson. On the flower committee were Mrs. Oliver Olson and Mrs. Elmer Renberg. Burial was at the Lawn cemetery at Boxholm.
Mrs. Hattie Sofia Adams was born Feb. 25, 1872 in Grant Township, Boone County, Ia., and died at the Iowa Lutheran Home in Madrid, Nov. 4, 1958, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 9 days.
The deceased was the oldest daughter of Swan A. and Johanna Sofia Sundgren. She was baptized in infancy and was confirmed June 2, 1889, at Dayton, Ia., by the Rev. C. A. Hemborg. She spent her life in the Boxholm community until her marriage to Charles Adams of Pilot Mound, Feb. 23, 1916.
She was stricken with a severe paralytic stroke in 1926, and had been bedfast for 32 years. She will be remembered by her old time friends for her fine sewing and hand work. She maintained patience and a smiling personality during her long confinement.
She was admitted to the Iowa Lutheran Home for the Aged at Madrid, Ia., Dec. 23, 1942. She retained membership at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Boxholm.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Esther Lass of Boxholm; two brothers, Clarence and Charlie of the Boxholm community; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
