Rex Dwayne Peterson went home to family and friends on the other side of the veil, Saturday, July 14, 2012, due to natural causes.

He was born July 11, 1924 in Preston, Idaho to Otto Dewaine and Edna Barbara Beckstead Peterson. He was raised and educated in Preston.

On September 15, 1944, Rex married Una Mae Kilfoyle in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on November 3, 1962. They lived in Ogden, Oregon and California where Rex worked for El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. They raised six children, Rexine (Harrison) Chesbrough, Finlayson, MN: Beverly Searle, Bountiful; Dwayne Peterson in Heaven; Barbara Reed, Syracuse; Mike Peterson, West Jordan; and Kim (Tresa) Peterson, Perry. Life was at his own pace, he never got caught up in the hustle and bustle of the world. He held many church callings, including Ward Clerk for 20+ years.

He had a great passion for fishing and enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to fish. He loved camping, traveling and relaxing in the mountains. He had many talents, he was an avid gardener, he understood the principle of sowing and reaping. He was also very talented with wood and made Mom anything she wanted. As a tailor, he won many blue ribbons at the Utah State Fair. He made the wedding dress for his daughter, Barbara.

Mom and Dad traveled in their motor home for almost 13 years and saw America, they lived the dream! Mom and Dad served three missions together, two in Atlanta, GA and one in Phoenix, AZ.

Rex is survived by his wife, five children, 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dwayne, and grandson, Warren Rex Reed and two brothers, Elwood and Mac Peterson.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Country Lane Assisted Living Center for their unconditional love, understanding and taking care of our father in his final months of mortality, allowing him to keep his dignity.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 19th at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
